I am approaching a year of self-employment and I feel like I have made about zero progress on developing a schedule and good routines. Yesterday, there were several non-painting things I was supposed to do, for life and for business, but once I started painting, I couldn't stop.
So, I have a new idea, which is to start the day with an hour of computer work, whether that is responding to inquiries about commissions, building my press list, researching inventory software systems, or whatever it is I have on my list. Then, after that is done, I'll head into my studio. And then, I'll close out the day with half an hour of additional correspondence and planning for the next day. Of course, this is for days that I don't have freelance work to do.
I always have ideas and to dos rattling through my brain all evening, which detracts from the quality of my personal time and life. I am hopeful that if I can end the day with some organization, I can do a better job of keeping work at work -- something that is important to both my husband and me. Anyone have any advice to share? I'd love to hear it.
