In case you didn't know, Oklahoma has a lot of cows. And I love them. I'm not really into painting animals though, so when they show up in my paintings, they're little more than dots.
This painting is 30"x40." I'm pretty happy with the sky, but there is a lot going on in the foreground and I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. Generally speaking, I like it, but it needs some finessing. In the fall, there are little flower bushes growing in many of the fields around Enid. The flowers (or leaves?) are what I would call 1970s green and they look velvety. I am not sure what they are, but that is what is making an appearance in the foreground. That, and some red dirt, of course. For all the paintings I have done while living in Oklahoma, the state's famous red dirt has been surprisingly absent.
Have a great weekend!
