How to put art on your Samsung The Frame TV

Peaceful water scene on Samsung Frame TV

Let’s be real: TVs aren’t typically very pretty. They have commanded prime real estate in living rooms and family rooms for the better part of a century. But when not in use, they aren't usually an aesthetic asset to a home.

Enter: Samsung’s The Frame TV. It has a slim profile, a unique screen designed to be minimally reflective (like a Kindle screen), and an optional, decorative frame. When not in use, the screen can display art and photos of your choosing. It even has the option to include a mat around the image, making it truly look like framed art on your wall. Furthermore, the lighting of the screen adjusts based on the level of the light in the room. It looks so different from a "normal" TV, most guests will have no idea that your beautiful piece of art is your TV!

My husband and I have had a Frame TV above our fireplace for about a year and a half and we love it!

A number of people have asked that I make my art available for Frame TVs and I am pleased to have six sets of four different images available. I had a great time coming up with the themes (like Coastal Waters and Pink & Green Mixtape) and curating these sets for you. When you purchase the set on my website, you’ll receive a zip folder via email with the four images, sized perfectly for your TV. I can guarantee that all of the images will look SO much better on your wall than a blank TV screen! You can also use the images for your computer wallpaper.

So, how do you get art onto your TV? Well, it’s not particularly intuitive, but it’s not hard. There are a couple ways to get the art on your TV; my preferred way is via the Samsung SmartThings app – download the app, save the art/photos to your phone, and you’ll have your art on your TV in no time.

See below for a step-by-step guide for getting your favorite art onto your TV.

Step 1. Download the free SmartThings app, made by Samsung.

You'll need to give the app some permissions.

Step 2. Add your TV as a device, so that you can control the TV from the app.

Add your TV via the plus symbol in the top right of the screen. If you need more details about adding your TV to the app, read this post from Samsung. Then click on the TV (shown below in the larger circle) to start adding art to it.

Step 7: Choose the image you want to display first and choose your mat settings.

You can choose whether to display a mat. I like a mat and I like to use a thin, white mat.

There are a number of settings in the app that allow you to control what the image looks like on your screen. To access the settings, go back and select your TV from the device "tab" at the bottom of the screen.

Then access the three-dot menu at the top of the screen.

Choose Art Mode Settings.
