This painting is of the sun setting over the mouth of the Columbia River in December 2025. As my husband and I were driving across the bridge from Astoria, Oregon, to Washington, we could tell the sunset was shaping up to be something special. While we were anxious to get to our destination, we decided it would be worth it to pull off along the river and watch the sunset.
This is a very unique painting! The foreground is painted on a separate wood panel that is mounted slightly in front of the "background" sky panel. An LED light strip is mounted between the two wood panels; turn the lights on a subtle neon-style glow will illuminate the horizon. These are super cool! Using the included remote, you can choose to have a steady light or to have the light fade between different colors.
This painting was a collaboration with my husband; he cut out the foreground panel, installed the lights, and mounted the foreground panel to the painting.
